Here are 5 things you should know…

1) The new Christian genocide

Armenians from the largely Christian area of Nagorno-Karabakh are facing genocide as Muslims from Azerbaijan invade the area.

Azerbaijan intentionally blocked the only road connecting Armenia with the Nagorno-Karabakh region, leaving residents without food, resources, electricity, and medical help and supplies.

The blockade and a series of attacks, which killed over 200 people and wounded over 400, have forced Nagorno-Karabakh officials to surrender, forcing thousands of panicked residents to flee the region. Almost all of the estimated 120,000 ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh have fled west to Armenia.

Azerbaijan is not giving residents a choice to stay and is refusing to let anyone back into their homes or guarantee safe passage.

2) The First Armenian Christian Genocide

Armenian Christians are once again being purged from their homeland, and the Biden Administration, the UN, and the rest of the world are letting it happen.

First, here’s a little lesson on the history of Christianity in Armenia and its long battle with Islam.

The first country in the world to adopt Christianity as their “official” religion was Armenia in 301 A.D.

It was Saint Gregory the Illuminator and other Syrian apostles who converted Armenia’s king and spread the gospel throughout the country from the 1st century through the early 4th century, spreading outward throughout Europe and parts of the Middle East and Asia.

For over 1,700 years, Christianity fought to remain in the region as the Ottoman Empire spread its tyrannical grip into the region, spreading Islam along with their conquest.

One of the earliest “purges” of Armenian Christians occurred in the 1500s when Ottoman troops massacred 10,000 Armenians.

Ever since then, the war between Christianity and Islam in the region has taken a great toll.

One of the first modern genocides (or ethnic cleansings) of the 20th century was the Armenian Christian genocide in 1915. Over 1.5 million Armenians were slaughtered by the Ottoman Empire by the radical Islamic terrorists.

The atrocities committed against the Armenians triggered a public outcry forcing President Woodrow Wilson to act. His administration worked with Hollywood celebrities and many thousands of charitable Americans to raise over $110 million (roughly over $1 billion adjusted for today’s dollars) to assist Armenian survivors of the holocaust—specifically refugees and orphans.

3) Deadly sounds of silence

Today, the new massacre of Christian Armenians grows. But who is there to help?

Biden?

The United Nations?

Even the news media has been silent and doesn’t report it.

Tragically, the US and the UN have done nothing to help the ethnic cleansing going on today.

4)Where has Biden been?

Why didn’t Biden mention the invasion when he recently addressed the UN?

Although there has been some talk by the Biden Administration to pause military aid to Azerbaijan, their inaction is too little too late.

As we do nothing to help, history is repeating itself as Islamic Turkey (once the great Ottoman Empire) invades Armenia again.

The Biden Administration must withhold aid and support and put Azerbaijan on the terrorist watch list.

5) Where are the Christians?

Pastors across the nation and around the world need to call for prayer.

Churches and Christians must unite and pray for our fellow Christians.

Pray that the US puts pressure on Turkey and the attacks stop.

Philosopher George Santayana once wrote, “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.”
