North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has announced his bid for GOP presidential candidate.

Bergman is an entrepreneur and has only been in politics since 2016 when he ran and won the governor’s race in North Dakota.

Before that, he worked in the private sector. In 1980, he inherited his family farm. In 1981, he mortgaged his farm to start a technology firm called Great Plains Software, which he sold for $1.1 billion to Microsoft– the software giant hired him to serve as senior vice president.

In 2006, he left Microsoft and started a real estate development firm, the Kilbourne Group, and co-founded software investment company Arthur Ventures in 2008.

Burgum is facing off against former GOP frontrunner President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Florida Mayor Francis Suarez, former Vice President Mike Pence, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and Libertarian radio host Larry Elder.

Recent polls have Burgum at 1%.
