The song ‘Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah’ came from Disney’s live action film Song of the South. It was made in 1946.
When the film came out, it was an instant success. It was Disney’s first feature-length live action movie that blended live action with animation, and audiences were amazed at Disney’s technical achievements.
The song “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” won the 1948 Academy Award for “Best Original Song” and actor James Baskett received an Academy Honorary Award for his performance as Uncle Remus.
In 1986, for its 40th anniversary, the movie was re-released in theaters. That was the last theatrical re-release of the movie.
Since that re-release, the film has attracted controversy from various groups, who claim that the portrayal of African Americans and plantation life in the movie was racist.
In 2010, Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that Disney had no plans to release the film on DVD, calling the film “antiquated” and “fairly offensive.”
Yet in their theme parks the attraction Splash Mountain featuring the cartoon characters from the movie and the Academy Award winning song were somehow sparred until recently, when the woke mob decided that they too are “offensive” and must be banned. Splash Mountain is set to be torn down, and the song will no longer be played in the theme parks.
Yes, the happy go lucky, feel-good song, Zip-A-Dee-Doo Dah will no longer be played in any of Disney’s theme parks.
Are you offended by the song Zip-A-Dee-Doo Dah?
It was a song that I memorized as a young child and has been one of my all-time favorites… and most likely yours too.
Who could be offended by these lyrics?
“Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s “actch’ll”
Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!”
But in honor of good music, and against the wokeness and hypocritical hatred that Disney is displaying, here is the song so you can hear it before it’s banned from the internet forever… CLICK HERE.

When there is so much vulgarity in many of some of the rap songs people have the nerve to complain about a song like Zip – A -Dee – Doo – Dah from 1946. What is happening to America?
Wonderful song and good movie. Showing my age, I remember seeing the movie. I grew up believing nothing but a person’s heart was all that mattered when choosing a friend. My grandmother would use the expression “they have a good heart” and race was only mentioned as the human race and that we are all God’s children. I am an 83 yr old woman and my pronouns are she and her. I believe a lot of what the media is trying to feed us in sinful, but as my grandmother would say: “Love the sinner, but hate the sin.” footnote she was raised in a Baptist orphanage. Long gone now but we will meet again. ❤
If it is offensive then I say to you how about all the rap songs they play offending black women? Why don’t they ban them?
