My wife and I were stunned.
We saw Leave the World Behind and felt it was something everyone should see because it raises awareness of how to prepare for a potential cyberattack or other disaster.
It shows human nature, what happens when people are unprepared, and what to do in advance to prepare.
It also shows some intriguing views of how people are preparing for a catastrophe in the future.
We were cautious about watching this because the executive producers were Barack and Michelle Obama.
Knowing this, I thought the film would be propaganda. But it was not. It was well done.
Leave the World Behind starred Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon and had a good supporting cast.
The movie had maybe 10 to 15% that one can construe as political, but for the most part, it was an exciting apocalyptic psychological thriller.
Here’s the basic synopsis of the film:
Amanda (Julia Roberts) and her husband Clay (Ethan Hawke) rent a luxurious home on Long Island for the weekend with their kids, Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie).
Their vacation is soon upended when two strangers—G.H. (Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la)—arrive in the middle of the night, warning of a mysterious cyberattack.
The strangers seek refuge in the house they claim is theirs. The two families then have to reckon with a looming disaster they know nothing about that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.
The movie is based on the book of the same name written by Rumaan Alam.
Interestingly, while this movie was being made, my old friend David Tice created a movie called Grid Down, Power Up. It’s a movie on how to protect yourself from such a situation.
You’ll discover why a cyber attack could be coming soon… and how to prepare.

One Comment on “Obama’s Film Leave the World Behind Left My Wife and I Speechless…”
We started to watch this movie and got pretty far along before it used the Lord’s name in vain. Once we did that, we turned it off. That’s our deal breaker for any type of media. Once they say g_d_ , we disconnect. We have walked out of movie theaters, in the middle of movies. We research as much as we are able but the reality is, no ending is worth my time if they disrespect my Lord. No movie that does that is that good.
