Christians are being deceived.
One of the key deceivers is a radical pro-socialist pastor.
He is Reverand Dr William Barber II.
He uses the term “Christian nationalism” to demonize evangelical Christians who believe in Biblical truth, have a Christian worldview, and understand that our nation and the Western world have roots in the Christian faith.
Here are 4 things you should know…
1) Radical pro-socialist Pastor leads a new movement to deceive evangelical Christians
Barber has been a critic of so-called “Christian nationalism” for years.
Pastor of a church affiliated with the Disciples of Christ, he’s also a leader in the NAACP, co-chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival, and a political activist for the Democrat party.
During an interview, Barber called Republican Christians and politicians “Christian nationalists.”
He said the following at the New Haven Declaration of Moral and Spiritual Issues in the 2024 Presidential Election:
“Christian nationalists are advocating policies that identify the United States as a Christian nation—rather than a diverse and pluralistic land with freedom of religion for all—the statemen’s signers promise to launch a season of preaching the moral issues of living wages and union rights, healthcare and ecological justice, an end to the spilling of innocent blood, a reimagining of criminal justice, and the protection and expansion of voting rights and equal protection guarantees.”
2) The declaration’s radical objective
The New Haven Declaration states:
“A well-funded, coordinated political movement has co-opted our faith tradition and is exploiting so-called ‘traditional values’ to undermine democracy and divide people across this land. This distorted religious nationalism has persuaded many well-meaning Christians to focus on a narrow set of divisive cultural wedge issues while ignoring the real moral issues that are at the heart of our Scriptures and tradition. We repent of not doing more to preach and teach against this misuse of our faith, and we pledge to proclaim in word and deed a public theology that is good news for all people.
From the top of the ticket to the local state house and judicial races, it is not the job of pastors to tell anyone for whom to vote. But preachers do have a responsibility to make clear how the tradition of Jesus and the prophets speaks to the world today. We must challenge our congregations and the wider public to choose carefully and wisely which candidates for public office best represent our true moral values.”
3) Radical speakers
Barber claims their goal is to provide faith leaders and their allies with the tools to engage in the battle for the nation’s soul.
“We have to force the nation to make a moral choice,” Barber said.
Some of the presentations at the event featured “experts on ‘right-wing’ extremism,” such as:
- Anne Nelson, author of Shadow Network: Media, Money, and the Secret Hub of the Radical Right
- Nancy MacLean, author of Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America
- Radical Democrat operative and Election law specialist Marc Elias
- LaTosha Brown, the co-founder of the voting rights group Black Voters Matter, a group that “empowers marginalized, predominantly Black communities
According to the organizers, “The mix of policy, strategy, and scripture distinguishes the conference from traditional academic gatherings, as does the gospel music that began each day’s session.”
4) Who signed on to this radical “declaration?”
The initial signers of the declaration include:
- Dr. William Barber II
- Yale Divinity School Dean Greg Sterling
- Teresa Hord Owens, who serves as general minister and president of the Christian church, the Disciples of Christ in the U.S. and Canada
- Bishop Yvette Flunder, the presiding Bishop of the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries
- Sofia Betancourt, the president of the Unitarian Universalists Association
- Shane Claiborne, co-founder of Red-Letter Christians, is a faith-based group with a mission of “combining Jesus and justice.”
This group is nothing more than a pro-socialist “religious” group designed to confuse and twist traditional Christian values to promote the radical ideology of the left.
